So the last months my brains have decided that tumblr is just too stressful. Which is weird, because tumblr is how I learned to do fandom, so you'd assume I've got some built-in resistance to the madness. Apparently not.
Or maybe it's simply that anger is exhausting, and there's so many angry people on there, that sweep me along in their angerness. It's so hard for me to not care. I just don't have the spoons.

The thing is, I've finally got my writing mojo back, and I'm really into fandom exchanges lately, so I figured, let's give this dreamwidth thing a try. Livejournal and its likes have never been part of my internet life, so it all feels brand new and shiny, even though it so very much isn't.

But I kinda like it.

I'm not entirely sure how canon specific fandom works on here, but at this point, I'm mostly into multi-fandom exchanges anyway, so I've got time to figure it out.

So that's it I think. I still need to write a Yuletide Round-up, and a Round-Up of my year in fic writiing, and then I think I'm ready for the new fandom year.

Oh GOOD you're just in time.

I mean, tumblr burnout and the causes for it are not good! But [community profile] purimgifts signup are open through tomorrow, and there's several fandoms I know you like that's already been requested/offered, and I wasn't going to come pull at your sleeve when you've been so quiet online.

But then you show up just in time for my Fannish New Year, which happens to be a multi-fandom exchange.

So, um, hi?

Yay! I could never cope with tumblr anyway. Welcome to Dreamwidth!

There are some communities that center on specific fandoms, but I really think most people just post about whatever, and tag for fandoms.

I kinda did a weird circle! My fandom life started on LiveJournal, then I discovered tumblr and was on there for a few years... and now I'm back! I still have my tumblr (though not the original one I started with) for some fandom stuff and keeping up with artists I like/

I agree, Tumblr can be exhausting. To me it's one giant firehose with very little actual connection to people and no real way to have a conversation. Which I guess is fine if all people want to do is squee or rant, but what I liked best about Livejournal/IJ/DW was it was more direct connections.

This is Cecilia, btw, but I friended you from my fanfic journal. I'm not as active as I'd like to be--only do 1-2 fests a year and don't read or comment a huge amount--but I'm still around!

There are graphics and pictures in the LJ/DW spaces too, just not as heavy. In the old days when people were on dialup, it took a looooong time for the pictures to load so people always put them under a cut and text was king. I see a lot of images not under the cut anymore these days! But yeah, not in the same way that it all flows on Tumblr.
